This is why…
It’s been a minute… or a month, since I asked “Why Enter?,” and the Brooklyn Bridge image in that post is now on display at the Attleboro Art Museum. It won no awards, but even being selected for a national juried exhibition is a pretty big deal. More locally, the image “Wing Island Winter” received a Judge’s Award in the Cape Cod Captured competition at Orleans Camera, which was lovely. A rather dark interpretation of Cape Cod, but that’s what’s in my DNA. There’s some pretty amazing work among the 150 or so entries. A reminder… shop locally whenever possible! This is my image, which will be deconstructed in a future blog post when I’ve recovered from my “I-95 Tour” to DC, Manhattan, and Philadelphia in successive weeks. Terrific seeing old friends at each stop, but a separate trip south was needed for each!
From the judge: “This photograph captures the stark beauty of a winter beach with quiet power. The muted palette of grays and blues, the leafless tree and dead grasses, and the line of seaweed debris create a sense of stillness and solitude. The dark, slightly foreboding clouds enhance the mood, evoking the desolate elegance of an unpeopled winter landscape. It’s a subtle, atmospheric image that lingers.”
For all that, unlikely to appear in the 2026 Cape Cod Tourist Info magazine!
